IT Support Engineer Overview
Our client, a leading IT solutions provider, is seeking a dedicated and experienced IT Support Engineer for a full-time position in Concord, CA. As an IT Support Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting clients' evolving technology needs and ensuring optimal performance of their IT infrastructure. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the sales team to provide pre- and post-sales technical support, including participating in discovery meetings, site visits, creating proposals and presentations, conducting technical assessments, and providing ongoing technical account management.
- Deploy and manage Windows Servers and Active Directory, ensuring efficient operation and security of client networks.
- Design Local Area Networks (LANs) and implement robust network security measures to protect client data and systems.
- Optimize and maintain both network software and hardware, addressing any issues to enhance infrastructure stability.
- Build and deploy file servers as well as cloud computing solutions to meet business requirements and improve operational efficiency.
- Configure and deploy Voice over IP (VOIP) solutions to enhance communication capabilities for clients.
- Troubleshoot network infrastructure issues and resolve problems efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Manage Microsoft Exchange Server and provide support for telephone solutions as needed.
- Monitor alert systems and respond to incidents in accordance with established guidelines to ensure proactive management of IT environments.
- Use event log messages to diagnose and repair systems, maintaining high availability for critical business functions.
- Handle escalated service requests that require advanced technical expertise and timely resolution.
- Facilitate new user onboarding to ensure seamless integration into client systems and environments.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing networking equipment, Windows servers, workstations, Exchange servers, and Active Directory.
- At least 3 years of experience in a client-facing role such as sales engineering, demonstrating the ability to understand and address client needs effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients at a business level and understand their technical and business challenges.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a proven track record of managing multiple priorities.
- Experience in writing proposals and implementing technical solutions tailored to specific business requirements.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Solid understanding of technology and business productivity systems, with the ability to leverage IT solutions to meet business objectives.
- Familiarity with remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools is a plus.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong customer service orientation, and the capacity to multitask in a dynamic setting.
- Sales training experience and prior work in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment are highly desirable.
Preferred Certifications
- CompTIA Network+ and/or CompTIA Security+ certifications.
- Microsoft certifications such as MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator), MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert), or MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional).
- Cisco certifications, including CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert), are a significant advantage.
