IT Security Engineer Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled IT Security Engineer with strong experience in managed services environments (MSP) to join a leading IT Solutions & Managed Services Provider in New Braunfels, TX. This full-time opportunity is ideal for professionals passionate about designing, implementing, and supporting secure IT infrastructure, while engaging directly with clients to deliver tailored technology solutions. The IT Security Engineer will be responsible for both pre- and post-sales technical support, project deployments, and ongoing technical account management, ensuring the highest standards of network and systems security across diverse client environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the sales team to deliver pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including conducting discovery meetings, technical assessments, site visits, solution proposals, presentations, and ongoing technical account management for clients based in New Braunfels, TX.
- Architect, deploy, and manage networking infrastructure such as routers, switches (including managed switches), and firewalls, with a particular focus on implementing and monitoring comprehensive network security protocols.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Windows Servers, Active Directory, and Exchange Server environments to support client business operations.
- Design and optimize Local Area Networks (LANs), ensuring robust performance and security.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of network hardware and software, including file servers and cloud-based computing solutions.
- Configure and deploy Voice over IP (VoIP) solutions, and manage related infrastructure to ensure reliable communication platforms for clients.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to network infrastructure, servers, and user on-boarding processes, providing escalated support as needed.
- Monitor alert systems and respond to incidents in accordance with established guidelines, ensuring proactive identification and resolution of security threats.
- Leverage remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools and professional services automation (PSA) systems for efficient service delivery and ticket management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing networking equipment, Windows servers and workstations, Exchange Server, and Active Directory in professional environments.
- At least 3 years of experience in client-facing roles such as sales engineering, with a proven ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with business clients and explain technical concepts clearly.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic MSP setting.
- Experience in drafting proposals and implementing technical solutions that address unique client requirements.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and reliable team player with a professional demeanor and strong customer service skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of technology and business productivity systems relevant to MSP environments.
- Familiarity with RMM tools (e.g., Kaseya, ConnectWise) and PSA ticketing systems (e.g., Autotask, ConnectWise) is highly desirable.
- Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver extraordinary customer service and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Experience in sales training is a plus, as well as prior work within a managed services provider (MSP).
Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
- CompTIA Network+ (Net+) and/or CompTIA Security+ certifications.
- Microsoft certifications such as MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator), MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional), or MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert).
- Cisco certifications, including CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert), are considered a significant asset.
