Information Security Specialist (InfoSec Specialist) Overview
ARC Group is seeking a highly skilled Information Security Specialist (InfoSec Specialist) for a contract position with the possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time role. This employment opportunity is remote, operating on Eastern Time Zone business hours. The Information Security Specialist (InfoSec Specialist) will play a crucial role in ensuring secure access for users across various applications, systems, and data resources, while supporting compliance with security regulations and company policies. Key Responsibilities
- Manage activities that ensure proper user access levels for applications, systems, and data resources across the organization.
- Evaluate, develop, and maintain procedures to safeguard information systems assets from unauthorized or inadvertent access or destruction.
- Ensure strict compliance with security regulations, company policies, and all applicable laws.
- Promote security awareness initiatives, assess gaps in current security practices, and implement solutions to enhance overall security posture.
- Proactively provision user security roles and manage security groups across various platforms, databases, servers, and applications including Active Directory, UNIX/Linux, and IBM Mainframe environments.
- Analyze and streamline role structures to improve security administration and enhance the end-user experience.
- Handle highly sensitive security access for outsourced vendors, ensuring adherence to policy, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
- Maintain and create operational procedures, update the Security Knowledge Base, and manage application scripts and tools related to application security.
- Track, document, and resolve security issues and requests while monitoring the work queue for timely execution.
- Plan and execute audits, ensuring access entitlements align with job requirements, and coordinate completion of detailed security reports for audit, management, or business needs.
- Interface with users and IT partners to understand new capabilities, troubleshoot issues, implement procedures, and ensure proper communication and adherence to security policies.
- Monitor systems for security threats, breaches, and vulnerabilities, and respond promptly to security alerts and incidents.
- Act as a lead liaison during internal and external audit requests, managing remedial activities arising from audit findings.
- Provide subject matter expertise, leadership, and guidance to work teams and end users on security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Research and collaborate with vendors to enhance the organization's Security Monitoring Program and coordinate exceptions to security policy as directed.
- Develop and deliver training content as needed to promote security best practices throughout the company.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in information security or related field.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of information technology, computer systems, and security management tools.
- Expertise in provisioning access using Microsoft Active Directory, IBM Mainframe TSO, UNIX/RIG, Oracle, SQL, PowerShell, and Cloud IAM Security such as Azure IAM and Azure Active Directory.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems, folder structures, and security, as well as core Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of security concepts, protocols, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with database security (UDB, DB2, SQL, Oracle), LDAP groups, and user accounts administration.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating high critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present consistent solutions.
- Experience with Agile methodologies is a plus.
