About the opportunity
Our client is a 100% employee-owned mechanical contractor with a strong piping and plumbing presence in the Dallas market. They are hiring several General Foremen right now, not filling one seat. The company name is confidential at this stage and will be shared with you during the interview process.
This is commercial and industrial work. Think plants, plan rooms, and large mechanical systems, not service calls and homes. Residential-only experience will not qualify for this role.

What you will actually do
Run the crew. Assign the work, set the standard, and hold the line on quality. You will assess what each person on your crew can do, set benchmarks, and build them up from there. You will keep timekeeping straight and make the call on hiring, promotions, and discipline recommendations.
Own the plan. Read the prints, know the schedule, and make sure the daily and weekly numbers land. When the plan has a hole in it, you are the one who spots it and says so early. You will keep tools and material ahead of the crew and flag shortages to the superintendent before they become downtime.
Keep people safe. Weekly toolbox talks, daily Task Hazard Analysis before anyone picks up a tool, and a work area that stays clean and organized. You answer the technical safety questions, or you go get the answer.
Build the next generation. Coordinate on-the-job training for apprentices and get your journeymen mentoring them. The trade needs foremen who teach, and this company backs it with real apprenticeship pathways.
Stay in the trade. This is not a clipboard job. You will perform craftwork right alongside your crew.
What you need
Hands-on piping or plumbing experience. This role is in the plumbing and piping trade specifically, not general construction supervision.
Commercial or industrial experience. Residential-only background will not qualify.
Experience leading and supervising crews. You have run a crew, not just worked on one.
5+ years as a qualified tradesperson
Familiarity with other construction trades and crafts
Solid knowledge of OSHA regulations. OSHA-30 required, and if you do not have it, you have 6 months from your hire date to get it.
An active Texas Journeyman Plumber license may be required depending on the work you perform and supervise
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong leadership, planning, and scheduling skills, and the judgment to resolve conflict on a jobsite instead of letting it fester
Comfortable with the administrative side. Reports, logs, and the computer work that comes with running a crew.
Employment is contingent upon active membership in the appropriate local trade union
