Forklift Operator - Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for order picking, order pulling, and the safe movement of materials throughout the warehouse. This position requires operating a sit-down forklift, adhering to safety protocols, and collaborating with team members to ensure efficient warehouse operations. The Forklift Operator is also expected to utilize inventory management systems and contribute to maintaining an organized and safe work environment. Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently in a warehouse or industrial setting.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and other transport vehicles.
- Transport goods to designated storage areas, production lines, or other locations as needed.
- Stack and arrange materials on shelves, pallets, or within specified areas according to procedures.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of the forklift, checking fluid levels, tires, and safety devices; promptly report any maintenance issues or malfunctions.
- Follow all safety regulations, guidelines, and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings, including pedestrian traffic, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Utilize RF scanning devices or inventory management systems for accurate tracking and recording of goods movement.
- Assist with inventory counts and participate in stock rotation as required.
- Secure loads on the forklift to prevent shifting or falling during transport.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including routine cleaning of the equipment used.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatchers, and team members regarding material movement and any issues encountered during shifts.
- Adhere to production schedules and support the timely movement of materials to meet operational goals.

- Contract-to-hire position with performance-based wage increase available after 90 days, contingent upon perfect attendance.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently (minimum of 3 years preferred).
- Valid forklift operator certification or license (OSHA or similar recognized certification required).
- Comprehensive understanding of forklift safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, instructions, and safety guidelines accurately.
- Good hand-eye coordination and sound spatial awareness for maneuvering forklifts in tight spaces.
- Ability to perform basic mathematics related to load weights and inventory management.
- Physical capability to sit or stand for extended periods, maneuver within confined warehouse spaces, and occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to perform tasks both on and off the forklift as needed in the warehouse.
- Strong attention to detail and a dedicated commitment to workplace safety.
- Reliability, punctuality, and an ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues and supervisors.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
