Financial Analyst Job Overview
Penobscot Community Health Care is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our Finance team on a full-time basis. This Financial Analyst position is integral to supporting the organization’s financial health through expert financial analysis and accounting practices. As a Financial Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in interpreting financial data for non-financial stakeholders, collaborating with leadership, and contributing to strategic financial decisions across the organization. Employment is full-time, with eligibility for remote or hybrid work arrangements in accordance with company policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze departmental financial statements and assist in the development and tracking of key metrics.
- Collaborate with leadership and clinic teams to evaluate financial performance, develop operating and capital budgets, and identify opportunities for financial improvement.
- Communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance team members, ensuring financial data is accessible and actionable.
- Run accounts receivable reports from various Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to support revenue cycle management and financial tracking.
- Provide support and management on a variety of accounting and finance projects, ensuring project timelines and expectations are consistently met.
- Analyze departmental budgets and recommend corrective actions to leadership to improve and sustain financial operations.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports, journal entries, and end-of-month closing processes as required.
- Maintain flexibility in supporting the department’s needs, proactively anticipating and responding to requests for data and analysis.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, time management, and follow-through, treating all internal and external stakeholders with respect and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a financial accounting environment. Healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, vlookup, xlookup, index and match functions.
- Experience with word processing and general ledger software is necessary.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to apply them in a practical setting.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic team environment.
