The Finance Director plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the financial operations and strategic planning within a national manufacturing organization in the residential construction sector. As the Finance Director, your responsibilities span a wide range of critical financial functions. You will be accountable for reconciling general ledger accounts and preparing detailed supporting schedules. In this capacity, you will post adjusting journal entries, conduct in-depth variance analysis, and assemble comprehensive monthly financial and key performance indicator (KPI) reporting packages. These efforts are fundamental to supporting data-driven decision-making and fostering organizational transparency.
Collaboration is central to the Finance Director role. You will partner with the broader leadership team to provide ad hoc analysis, identify emerging business trends, and deliver actionable insights for financial forecasting and modeling. By analyzing and streamlining business processes, you will contribute to continuous productivity improvements and operational excellence. Your expertise will also be essential in inventory analysis, coordinating physical inventory and cycle count processes to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Another key aspect of your role will involve supporting the successful setup and implementation of a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. This includes updating and tracking the status of job orders, overseeing billing versus payment cycles, and managing complex state and property tax filings. Your background in accounting and finance, along with a deep understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accrual-based accounting, will be leveraged daily.
Qualifications for the Finance Director include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, particularly advanced Excel skills for financial analysis, is a must. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a robust work ethic, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Preference is given to individuals with backgrounds in corporate or public accounting, and those who bring experience in handling audits, familiarity with ASC 606, COSO Framework, internal controls, lean manufacturing, or ERP system implementation.
