Field Service Technician Position OverviewARC Group is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician for a full-time opportunity in Newark, NJ. As a Field Service Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing compressed air equipment at an industry leader in industrial systems servicing and repair. Key Responsibilities- Perform teardown and thorough inspection of returned industrial air equipment to assess condition and identify issues.
- Diagnose mechanical problems, determine causes of failure, and recommend effective solutions with precision and accuracy.
- Document findings and service recommendations clearly in collaboration with internal teams to ensure transparent communication.
- Measure worn parts carefully to determine whether components should be reused or replaced according to industry standards.
- Rebuild compressors to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications by following detailed schematics and service manuals.
- Operate and maintain a variety of workshop tools, such as welding equipment, sandblasters, band saws, and drill presses.
- Interpret engineering drawings to facilitate accurate assembly and fabrication of components.
- Safely utilize overhead cranes and forklifts to move heavy equipment and parts, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and ensure that all tasks are performed in compliance with safety standards.
- Provide training and guidance to customer personnel in the shop environment as required to support operational excellence.
- High school diploma or GED is required; additional technical certifications in industrial maintenance or safety are highly valued.
- Minimum of five years of hands-on experience repairing or maintaining compressors, blowers, pumps, or related industrial machinery.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and schematics.
- Experience working with 3-phase electrical systems and a wide range of standard shop tools.
- Physical ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform tasks that require standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Commitment to safety, strong organizational skills, and effective communication abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with a focus on customer satisfaction and a reliable work ethic.
