Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO) Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO) to join our mission-driven healthcare team committed to providing accessible and affordable patient-centered care. This full-time position offers the opportunity to deliver comprehensive primary care to patients from newborns through end of life, with a particular emphasis on women’s health services, including long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) insertion and prenatal care for low-risk patients. Our organization is based in Virginia and values a collaborative, team-based care model that integrates behavioral health services into primary care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-focused primary healthcare services utilizing a collaborative, team-based care approach in alignment with the organization’s mission and vision.
- Document and review patient care services using the organization’s electronic health record (EHR) system to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Contribute to the ongoing knowledge development of clinical staff to continually improve patient outcomes and healthcare quality.
- Work towards meeting established goals for access to care, clinical quality metrics, and patient satisfaction.
- Participate in peer review processes, quality improvement initiatives, and activities that support the organization’s long-term sustainability.
- Provide direct clinical medical services in the area of board-certified (or board-eligible) family medicine, adhering to the highest standards of medical and professional practice and following organizational protocols.
- Serve as a consultant for family medicine cases referred by other providers within the organization.
- Offer in-service training for staff on topics related to family medicine, as needed and directed by leadership.
- Complete all required medical documentation for patient encounters in a timely manner, typically within five business days.
- Assist with internal quality improvement audits and other initiatives to enhance clinical performance.
- Supervise Advanced Care Practitioners as applicable, including chart review and sign-off responsibilities.
- Obtain and maintain staff privileges at community hospitals as appropriate for the delivery of care.
- Attend internal and external meetings, workshops, conferences, and participate in committees or task forces as required.
- Support successful EHR/EPM implementation, including completion of Meaningful Use attestation requirements.
- Model service excellence and support the organization’s recognition as a Patient Centered Medical Home through superior clinical, administrative, and team interactions.
- Provide additional support both within and outside the clinical setting to help ensure the organization’s ongoing success.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Director or Executive Director.
Required Qualifications
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine as an MD or DO in Virginia.
- Current DEA license to prescribe medications with no restrictions.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Family Medicine.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience in a Family Practice setting.
- Familiarity with business applications and clinical management systems, including EMRs.
- Not sanctioned under Medicaid or Medicare programs.
Work Location
This Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO) position is based in Virginia. The selected candidate may be required to travel to various sites within the region as part of their responsibilities.
