Building Maintenance Technician Job Overview
TriStarr is seeking a dedicated and skilled Building Maintenance Technician for a full-time opportunity with a valued client in Lancaster County, PA. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about ensuring safe, clean, and well-maintained environments within institutional and commercial settings. As a Building Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations and upkeep of the facility and its grounds, contributing to a positive and productive workplace.
Responsibilities
- Perform general custodial and building maintenance tasks throughout office spaces, entranceways, hallways, restrooms, kitchens, lounges, stairwells, dorm rooms, and apartments.
- Ensure all building furniture, equipment, and premises are maintained in a clean, neat, and safe condition at all times.
- Utilize custodial supplies efficiently and operate a variety of custodial equipment as needed for daily maintenance tasks.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of custodial supplies, place orders as necessary, and accurately receive and verify deliveries.
- Conduct routine care and maintenance of cleaning equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Assist with setting up and preparing spaces for scheduled events, including providing support for overnight guest accommodations and campus functions.
- Handle minor repairs when possible, and communicate the need for specialized maintenance support by initiating appropriate work orders.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection process for new cleaning products and custodial equipment to enhance operational efficiency.
- Strictly adhere to safety procedures and work guidelines relevant to the maintenance and operation of institutional buildings and their surrounding environments.
- Actively communicate any building issues or concerns to supervisors or managers and participate in ongoing training, seminars, and safety meetings.
- As essential personnel, provide maintenance services as required, including during institutional closures and emergency situations, supporting both scheduled and unscheduled events.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license is mandatory.
- Up to one year of related experience in building maintenance or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and custodial equipment.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks that require above-average strength, including the ability to work from ladders as needed.
- Proven capacity to work independently and as part of a team, follow oral and written instructions, and contribute positively to a collaborative work environment.
- Successful completion of background checks is required for employment.
