Emergency Medicine Physician (Locum Tenens, EM Physician) Job OverviewOptigy is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Emergency Medicine Physician (Locum Tenens, EM Physician) for full-time assignment in Kilgore and Marshall, Texas. This opportunity is available within a prominent health system in East Texas, providing vital emergency services to a broad and diverse patient population. The assignment is well-suited for experienced emergency medicine professionals who excel in fast-paced, high-acuity clinical settings and are comfortable working independently across multiple facilities.
Responsibilities- Deliver comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute conditions at Kilgore and Marshall facilities.
- Respond promptly to various medical emergencies and perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to standard protocols and best practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and seamless coordination of care throughout the emergency department.
- Document all patient encounters, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate adaptability by covering different facility settings, as required, and maintaining a high standard of care regardless of location.
- Maintain professional communication with patients, families, and staff, upholding the highest standards of respect, confidentiality, and inclusivity.
- Adhere to all relevant clinical policies, ethical guidelines, and legal regulations governing emergency medicine practice.
- Board Certification: Kilgore accepts ABEM (American Board of Emergency Medicine) or ABFM/ABIM (American Board of Family Medicine/Internal Medicine) with significant emergency experience. Marshall requires ABEM only.
- Certifications: ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for non-ABEM physicians. ABEM-certified physicians are exempt from this requirement.
- Residency: For Kilgore, candidates should have completed a residency in Emergency Medicine, or Internal Medicine/Family Medicine with emergency department experience. Marshall requires Emergency Medicine residency.
- Experience in high-acuity emergency settings and ability to work independently is essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective collaboration with staff and patients.
- Full-time, Locum Tenens, onsite position.
- Assignment length: 12 months starting July 2025.
- Flexible schedule with a minimum of 5 shifts per month.
- Service locations limited to Kilgore, TX, and Marshall, TX within the broader East Texas health system.
