Emergency Medicine Physician (EM Physician) - Locum Tenens Position OverviewOptigy is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Emergency Medicine Physician (EM Physician) - Locum Tenens to provide comprehensive care at two facilities in Kilgore, TX and Marshall, TX. This full-time contract opportunity is designed for physicians who excel in high-acuity, fast-paced emergency department environments. As part of a reputable health system in East Texas, you will contribute to emergency care delivery, serving diverse patient populations and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute conditions at Kilgore and Marshall facilities in Texas.
- Independently assess, diagnose, and manage emergent and urgent health concerns in accordance with facility protocols and current clinical guidelines.
- Stabilize patients, initiate appropriate treatment interventions, and coordinate care with specialists or other healthcare providers when necessary.
- Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record to ensure continuity and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Respond efficiently to high-acuity cases, demonstrating sound clinical judgment and adaptability across different facility settings.
- Engage with nursing staff, advanced practice providers, and ancillary personnel to facilitate seamless patient care and optimal department flow.
- Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives as required by the health system.
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in Texas.
- Board Certification Requirements:
- Kilgore: Accepts ABEM (American Board of Emergency Medicine) or ABFM/ABIM (American Board of Family Medicine/Internal Medicine) with significant emergency medicine experience.
- Marshall: ABEM board certification required (no alternative boards accepted).
- Residency training in Emergency Medicine preferred; for Kilgore, Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with extensive emergency department experience accepted.
- Certifications:
- ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for non-ABEM physicians.
- ABEM-certified physicians are exempt from these additional certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to provide independent coverage and adapt to the unique workflows of different emergency department settings.
- Full-time locum tenens contract position.
- Assignment start date: July 2025.
- 12-month contract with a minimum of 5 shifts per month; flexible scheduling available.
- Work exclusively at Kilgore and Marshall facilities in Texas, both part of a respected regional health system serving East Texas.
