Emergency Medicine Physician (EM Physician) Position Overview
Optigy is seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Medicine Physician (EM Physician) for a locum tenens opportunity in West Monroe, Louisiana. This role is designed for board-eligible or board-certified professionals looking to provide high-quality emergency care in a facility that experiences a manageable patient flow and has no trauma designation. Both Emergency Medicine-trained physicians and primary care-trained physicians with emergency experience are encouraged to apply. This locum tenens, flexible employment opportunity allows physicians to contribute meaningfully to patient care while enjoying the support of an experienced and collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute and urgent medical conditions.
- Assess, diagnose, and initiate treatment for approximately 70 patients per day, ensuring timely and effective care for all individuals.
- Coordinate patient admissions, with an average admission rate of 20%, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in a flexible shift model, allowing for adaptable scheduling to meet personal and professional needs.
- Work within a non-trauma-designated emergency department, focusing on non-trauma emergencies and acute care presentations.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of clinical encounters in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Comply with all credentialing requirements, which typically have an estimated timeframe of approximately 60 days.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board eligible or board certified in Emergency Medicine (EM), Family Medicine (FM), or Internal Medicine (IM).
- Demonstrated relevant experience in emergency medicine is required; fellowship training is not necessary for this role.
- Possession of, or eligibility for, an active Louisiana medical license is preferred to facilitate credentialing and practice at the facility.

- Telehealth services are not required as part of this role; all care is delivered in-person at the facility.
