Optigy is seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) for a locum tenens position in Corydon, Indiana. This full-time opportunity is available onsite at a reputable hospital known for its collaborative emergency medicine environment and manageable patient volume. Physicians in this role will join a supportive team structure, working alongside experienced Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) to deliver high-quality emergency care. Responsibilities
- Provide emergency medical care to patients presenting with a broad range of acute conditions in a hospital emergency department setting.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including NPs and PAs to ensure comprehensive patient care during each shift.
- Manage patient flow efficiently during 12-hour shifts, with shift options of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Document patient encounters using the EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) system in compliance with hospital protocols.
- Participate in a staffing model featuring 24 physician hours and 10 NP/PA hours daily to maintain optimal coverage and patient safety.
- No on-call requirement is associated with this locum tenens assignment, supporting a healthy work-life balance.
Qualifications
- Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM), Family Medicine (FM), or Internal Medicine (IM) with relevant emergency department experience.
- For IM/FM physicians, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.
- Active and unrestricted Indiana medical license is required to proceed with credentialing.
- Experience working in a fast-paced emergency department environment is strongly preferred.
Documentation & Requirements
- Recent tuberculosis (TB) test within the past 12 months (chest x-ray acceptable if TB test is positive).
- Three peer references attesting to clinical competence and professionalism.
- Copies of all current medical licenses and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
- Education certificates and procedure/case logs as part of credentialing documentation.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Annual emergency department patient volume of approximately 13,500.
- Assignment offers flexible, open-ended scheduling with expedited credentialing and emergency temporary privileges available.
