Optigy is actively seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) to join a dedicated team in a critical access hospital's emergency department in Luling, TX. This full-time, onsite position offers an opportunity to deliver high-quality care in a well-supported, low-volume environment. The Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) role is ideally suited for individuals who value a balanced lifestyle and are passionate about providing community-based emergency care. Physicians from Family Medicine (FP) or Internal Medicine (IM) backgrounds with Emergency Medicine experience are also encouraged to apply. This permanent position includes flexible 12- or 24-hour shifts, providing adaptability for work-life balance.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive emergency medical care to patients in a 5-bed emergency department, averaging approximately 10,000 annual visits or 30 patients per day.
- Work independently as the sole Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) on shift, supported by two experienced nurses per shift.
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and urgent medical conditions consistent with Trauma Level IV facility standards.
- Utilize the Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) system to accurately document patient encounters and treatment plans.
- Coordinate patient transfers with streamlined processes, ensuring timely access to specialty care as needed.
- Maintain high clinical standards and participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage in professional development opportunities, including annual clinical assemblies and leadership training sponsored by Optigy.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with demonstrable Emergency Medicine experience.
- Active and unrestricted medical license, or eligibility to obtain one in the state of Texas.
- Proficiency in emergency medical procedures and the ability to manage a variety of patient presentations independently.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
