Optigy is seeking dedicated Emergency Medicine Physicians (EM) for a locum tenens, full-time opportunity to provide high-quality care in Lufkin, Texas. This position is open to physicians with certifications in ABEM, FP, IM, or Surgery, making it an excellent opportunity for professionals with a broad range of training. The Emergency Medicine Physician role is essential in delivering prompt, effective treatment and ensuring patient safety in a fast-paced emergency department environment. Physicians will work onsite and will be supported by advanced practice providers with around-the-clock coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the emergency department, handling a variety of acute medical conditions and emergencies.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Manage approximately 78 patients per day, with an annual ED volume of 28,900 visits.
- Utilize the Medhost EMR system for accurate documentation and patient record management.
- Participate in 12-hour shifts, with shift options from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., ensuring continuous coverage for the emergency department.
- Engage in a minimum commitment of 6 shifts per month, with assignments lasting at least 6 months.
- Attend required orientation and EMR training prior to starting clinical duties.
- Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and credentialing requirements.
- No on-call responsibilities are required for this position.
Qualifications
- Completion of a medical residency program is required.
- Active Texas medical license in good standing.
- Board certification or eligibility in ABEM, AOBEM, ABFM, or ABIM (ABPS not accepted).
- If not ABEM certified, must possess valid certifications in ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume emergency department with 12 ED beds.
- Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills within clinical environments.
- Immunization requirements must be met, with waivers considered as appropriate.
Credentialing & Compliance
- Credentialing timeframe is approximately 60 days; expedited privileging is not available.
- All physicians must complete orientation and EMR training prior to start.
- Compliance with all institutional health and safety protocols is mandatory.
