Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM, Locum Tenens) Job OverviewOptigy is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM, Locum Tenens) for a high-volume healthcare facility in Lake Charles, LA. This full-time, onsite locum tenens opportunity offers an engaging and dynamic work environment within a leading regional medical center. Physicians will join a collaborative clinical team in a modern Emergency Department serving over 48,000 patients annually, providing high-quality, acute care to a diverse patient population.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries in a fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team that includes Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), nurses, and scribe support to deliver patient-centered care.
- Utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, including CT and digital x-ray, to assess and treat patients in a timely and efficient manner.
- Deliver care across specialized treatment areas, including trauma, mental health, and fast-track zones, ensuring appropriate triage and disposition of patients.
- Participate in shift-based scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage and continuity of care for the 40-bed Emergency Department.
- Document all patient encounters accurately and efficiently using the McKesson electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Adhere to best practices in emergency medicine, maintaining compliance with facility protocols, state regulations, and professional standards.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM), Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine.
- Active Louisiana medical license required.
- Previous experience in a high-volume Emergency Room setting is preferred.
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and patients.
