Electrical Engineer (PE) Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer (PE) to join a dynamic and award-winning engineering firm, offering a full-time opportunity based in Seattle, WA. As an Electrical Engineer (PE), you will play a pivotal role in the planning, design, and execution of electrical systems for a variety of projects. Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Design Engineering
- Conduct field surveys to gather data for electrical system design.
- Prepare comprehensive site assessment reports and electrical schematic designs.
- Design Engineering
- Develop power single line and riser diagrams for various projects.
- Perform electrical calculations including arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, and load flow analyses using industry-standard software such as ETAP or SKM.
- Design both low voltage and medium voltage electrical infrastructure.
- Lead design efforts for equipment replacement projects, including substations, switchboards, transformers, and panelboards.
- Utilize and adhere to CAD/BIM standards in all designs.
- Maintain strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and energy standards applicable to electrical system design.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, plumbing, telecom, civil, structural, and architectural professionals.
- Project Management
- Lead electrical design projects with a focus on quality, technical accuracy, and client satisfaction.
- Oversee small to medium-sized projects, ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the team.
- Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Support proposal development for new projects in partnership with senior engineers.
- Ensure excellence in project documentation and uphold rigorous quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Construction Administration
- Respond to requests for information (RFIs) during construction with timely and accurate engineering support.
- Review submittals to verify compliance with design intent and relevant codes.
- Work collaboratively with contractors and field teams, ensuring clear communication and problem resolution throughout construction phases.
- Participate in site inspections and punch walks, preparing detailed reports to ensure project completeness and functionality.
- Advocate for the client’s interests, proactively addressing construction challenges to maintain design vision and project momentum.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading electrical design projects and managing project teams.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering preferred.
- Proficient in NEC, AutoCAD, ETAP/SKM, and Revit.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to mentor and support junior engineers.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
