Dental Director (DDS/DMD) Job Summary
The Dental Director (DDS/DMD) is responsible for providing comprehensive dental care, overseeing clinical operations, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and oral health within the Olly Neal Community Health Center. This full-time opportunity is designed for an experienced clinical leader who is passionate about improving dental health outcomes. The Dental Director (DDS/DMD) examines, diagnoses, and treats a wide range of oral diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums, while also guiding preventive dental care for patients in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize personal protective equipment, including masks, gloves, and safety glasses, to safeguard patients and staff from infectious diseases during all dental procedures.
- Conduct thorough examinations of teeth, gums, and related oral tissues to assess dental health, diagnose conditions or abnormalities, and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Administer local anesthetics to patients as needed to ensure comfort and minimize pain during dental procedures.
- Perform preventive dental care by evaluating patient needs, identifying changes or emerging trends in dental disease, and implementing appropriate interventions.
- Advise patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive dental care strategies to support long-term dental health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff to provide integrated, high-quality patient care within the Olly Neal Community Health Center.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with the latest advancements in dental science and best practices.
- Uphold all clinical policies and contribute to the ongoing improvement of dental services offered by the health center.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Dentistry (DDS or DMD) from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in oral examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and the execution of dental procedures.
- Strong judgment and decision-making abilities, with a focus on patient safety and quality care.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Proficient in critical thinking, complex problem-solving, active listening, and ongoing patient monitoring.
