Cybersecurity Engineer Overview
ARC Group is seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Engineer for a contract role with the potential for extension or conversion to full-time employment. This is a remote position operating during Eastern Time Zone business hours. As an integral member of the cybersecurity team, the Cybersecurity Engineer will play a critical role in protecting applications and APIs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring secure coding practices are implemented throughout the software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with developers and IT professionals to integrate security best practices into application design, development, and deployment.
- Review vulnerability scan findings and assist development teams in remediating security issues within applications.
- Work with application owners to implement single sign-on solutions using SAML or OAuth, enhancing access security and user experience.
- Establish and manage access controls utilizing conditional access policies to ensure authorized usage of applications and data.
- Advise on secure coding practices and help mitigate security risks throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Provide ongoing security guidance and recommendations to development teams, ensuring adherence to regulatory and organizational security standards.
- Create and maintain security documentation, including threat models, risk assessments, and security requirements.
- Monitor emerging security threats and technologies, applying relevant knowledge to strengthen the organization’s security posture.
- Enable rapid yet secure application deployment by balancing robust security measures with business needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on secure development and deployment.
- Comprehensive understanding of secure coding practices, threat modeling, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Proficiency with Azure and EntraID platforms.
- Strong experience implementing single sign-on solutions using SAML and OAuth protocols.
- Familiarity with security tools such as Postman, Burp Suite, and vulnerability management solutions.
- Demonstrated scripting experience using PowerShell or Python.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective engagement with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze complex security issues and develop effective, scalable solutions.
- Experience with API security frameworks and protocols (e.g., OAuth, JWT) and UI development frameworks and tools.
- Familiarity with the OWASP Top 10 and remediation strategies.
- Ability to create both technical and non-technical documentation.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines, including tools such as Jenkins.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent related work experience.
Licenses and Certifications
- SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner) certification required within 180 days of full-time hire for relevant cybersecurity engineering functions.
Required Work Experience
- At least 4 years of related work experience.
- At least 2 years of experience specifically in cybersecurity roles.
- At least 2 years of experience in information technology infrastructure.
