Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) Position Overview
Optigy is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our team on a full-time, night shift basis. This position is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and offers an opportunity to provide essential care within a high-acuity Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a respected community-based, multi-specialty hospital. The role is designed for local professionals, offering a consistent schedule, robust support from attending physicians, and the chance to work in a collaborative clinical environment. This is a locum tenens opportunity focused on delivering exceptional patient care during the night shift.
Responsibilities
- Manage critically ill patients in a high-acuity ICU environment with direct support from attending physicians.
- Perform and document comprehensive histories and physicals (H&Ps), consults, event/follow-up notes, and procedure notes in accordance with hospital standards.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and medications to guide patient care decisions.
- Carry out bedside procedures, including central and arterial line insertions, with documentation of proficiency as required during credentialing.
- Participate actively in multi-disciplinary rounding and collaborate closely with ICU nursing, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality, coordinated care.
- Utilize Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for all patient documentation and care coordination.
- Maintain an APP-to-patient ratio of approximately 10–15 ICU patients per provider during each shift, ensuring attentive and responsive care for all assigned patients.
Qualifications
- Current licensure as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the state of Georgia.
- National certification as an ACNP or PA-C.
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) working in an ICU setting, with demonstrated competence in managing critically ill patients.
- Ability to provide case logs that demonstrate proficiency in ICU-based procedures, especially central and arterial line insertions, as part of the credentialing process.
Schedule and Employment Type
- Full-time, night shift position: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM.
- Three 12-hour shifts per week, including sign-out time, providing a predictable and structured work schedule.
