Construction Safety Manager (CSM) - Summary
The Construction Safety Manager (CSM) plays a crucial role in supporting the safe execution of construction projects by identifying potential hazards, enforcing compliance with safety regulations, and ensuring the protection of all site personnel. The Construction Safety Manager (CSM) collaborates with contractors, project management teams, and external regulatory bodies to create and implement effective safety solutions. This position involves ongoing training, compliance monitoring, and the development of emergency protocols to maintain a secure working environment at all times.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and company policies.
- Inspect active construction sites to evaluate work conditions and guarantee adherence to safety standards.
- Collaborate with contractors to identify specific hazards, such as electrocution risks, toxic substances, and working at heights, and devise solutions to eliminate or minimize exposure to these risks.
- Liaise with government inspectors and external regulatory agencies to ensure all safety protocols are observed and documented.
- Work closely with project management and field teams to address and resolve safety-related concerns on-site.
- Review project blueprints for safety considerations, including disposal systems, evacuation plans, lighting, and ventilation, to minimize danger to personnel and visitors.
- Assist senior management in developing and updating emergency response procedures and plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed safety documentation, such as OSHA 300 logs and safety training records.
- Facilitate safety training programs for all employees, ensuring they understand safe work practices and emergency response protocols.
- Address non-compliance by disciplining subcontractors and employees who fail to adhere to established safety standards.
- Represent the construction company in meetings with governmental and regulatory organizations regarding workplace health and safety.
- Stay informed about updates to legal regulations and safety program initiatives relevant to workplace safety and environmental issues.
