Construction Safety Coordinator Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Safety Coordinator to join our team on a full-time basis in Anaheim, CA. The Construction Safety Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring a safe working environment across all job sites, including locations in San Diego, Los Angeles County, and Orange County. This position is essential to maintaining and promoting the highest safety standards in the construction industry, particularly within commercial and industrial projects. The Construction Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing safety policies and procedures that align with our company's commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement safety policies and procedures at job sites and fabrication shops, ensuring compliance with OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulations.
- Conduct comprehensive safety training for all personnel, including new hire orientation and live training for Competent Persons in areas such as Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, and Trenching.
- Document and review safety conditions at project sites, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Lead accident investigations to determine causes and recommend corrective actions, working closely with the Company Loss Control Team.
- Ensure all safety programs and policies are consistently applied and followed throughout all project locations.
- Provide ongoing safety coaching and counseling to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement among employees.
- Develop and sustain relationships with clients based on trust, effective communication, and a shared commitment to safety.
- Be available and present during high-risk activities, such as crane operations, to oversee safety protocols.
- Complete other safety-related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of five years of safety experience, preferably with at least three to five years in construction safety management for large commercial and industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulations and the ability to apply this knowledge on job sites.
- OSHA 500 Certification preferred, or the ability to attain certification within six months of employment.
- First Aid/CPR training required.
- Proficient in Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and email communication.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative safety and loss control team.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, with a keen attention to detail.
