K2 Staffing is seeking an accomplished Construction Project Manager (CCM) to provide expert leadership within the Education and Facilities sector. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of large-scale construction projects, ensuring all activities align with established district and program policies. The Construction Project Manager (CCM) will work onsite, collaborating closely with organizational leaders and stakeholders, such as Campus Directors, Presidents, and Vice Presidents. This opportunity is based in Los Angeles, CA, a city known for its vibrant construction industry and dynamic educational landscape.
Responsibilities
- Resolve complex project-related issues, disputes, and disagreements to maintain project momentum and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Develop, assign, and monitor performance metrics for Owner’s Authorized Representatives (OARs) on assigned construction projects.
- Review project status and overall progress in relation to construction schedules, identifying and addressing any delays or bottlenecks.
- Evaluate and process change orders, assessing their impact on the district and ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Assist Regional Directors and Facilities Management staff in bid preparation, contract planning, and procurement activities.
- Assess bid specifications to ensure they meet district needs and can be completed within the stated timelines.
- Monitor and analyze project database variances, focusing on scheduling and cost control to optimize resources and fiscal management.
- Oversee the review and verification of payment applications, ensuring fiscal responsibility across multiple concurrent projects.
- Provide functional direction in areas such as project scheduling, cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality assurance.
- Supervise the administration of contracts for architects and related consultants, ensuring contractual compliance.
- Coordinate program activities with district branches and departments, including Environmental Health and Safety, Design and Technical Support, Asset Management, Contract Administration, Inspection, Maintenance and Operations, and local districts.
- Lead and participate in project risk assessments, helping identify and mitigate potential impacts on project delivery.
- Develop and recommend internal policies to improve project management practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) may substitute for the educational requirement.
- Minimum of 15 years of full-time, paid professional experience in project or construction management.
- At least 5 years managing large programs involving projects with construction values exceeding $60 million.
- Five years of experience in educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education or experience in business administration, public relations, accounting, finance, personnel management, or communications.
- Design-Build project experience.
- Experience using Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology.
- Familiarity with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS).
- Experience with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction and design processes.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board, or as a Professional Engineer by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
