We are seeking a dedicated Construction Project Manager to join a leading custom home general contractor in San Diego, CA. This full-time position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of custom home building projects, ensuring high standards of quality, timely completion, and adherence to budgetary guidelines. The Construction Project Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing construction activities, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with all relevant building codes and safety regulations. This role is essential for maintaining the reputation and operational excellence of the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Oversight:
  • Supervise and manage all on-site construction activities for custom home projects.
  • Ensure completion of projects according to design specifications, quality standards, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, and labor resources to meet project milestones efficiently.
• Quality Control and Assurance:
  • Conduct regular inspections to confirm adherence to design specifications and established quality standards.
  • Promptly identify and address any issues or deficiencies to maintain high-quality craftsmanship.
  • Implement quality control protocols throughout all phases of construction.
• Scheduling and Coordination:
  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed construction schedules to ensure timely completion of all project phases.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, and designers, ensuring coordinated project execution.
  • Communicate with clients, providing regular updates on project status and addressing concerns or changes as needed.
• Budget and Cost Management:
  • Monitor project expenses, ensuring compliance with budgetary requirements.
  • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and purchase orders accurately and promptly.
  • Implement value engineering and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
• Safety Management:
  • Promote and enforce a robust safety culture on the job site.
  • Ensure compliance with all local and federal safety regulations, conducting regular safety meetings and site inspections.
  • Address and correct any identified safety hazards or violations quickly and effectively.
• Subcontractor and Supplier Management:
  • Select, contract, and manage subcontractors and suppliers to meet project requirements and quality standards.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing, maintaining positive professional relationships.
  • Resolve disputes or issues with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project continuity.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and change orders.
  • Prepare and submit regular updates on schedules, budgets, and quality metrics to stakeholders.
  • Document any project modifications and ensure clear communication with all team members and clients.
• Client Interaction:
  • Serve as the primary client contact throughout the construction process.
  • Ensure that client expectations are met or exceeded from project initiation to completion.
  • Conduct final walk-throughs with clients, address punch list items, and ensure overall client satisfaction.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or Project Manager in custom home building.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry standards.
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Proficiency in construction management software and project management tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients, subcontractors, and teams.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to construction challenges.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
