We are seeking a dedicated Construction Project Manager to join a leading custom home general contractor in San Diego, CA. This full-time position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of custom home building projects, ensuring high standards of quality, timely completion, and adherence to budgetary guidelines. The Construction Project Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing construction activities, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with all relevant building codes and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Project Oversight:
- Supervise and manage all on-site construction activities for custom home projects.
- Ensure completion of projects according to design specifications, quality standards, and client expectations.
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, and labor resources to meet project milestones efficiently.
- Quality Control and Assurance:
- Conduct regular inspections to confirm adherence to design specifications and established quality standards.
- Promptly identify and address any issues or deficiencies to maintain high-quality craftsmanship.
- Implement quality control protocols throughout all phases of construction.
- Scheduling and Coordination:
- Develop, update, and maintain detailed construction schedules to ensure timely completion of all project phases.
- Liaise with architects, engineers, and designers, ensuring coordinated project execution.
- Communicate with clients, providing regular updates on project status and addressing concerns or changes as needed.
- Budget and Cost Management:
- Monitor project expenses, ensuring compliance with budgetary requirements.
- Review and approve invoices, change orders, and purchase orders accurately and promptly.
- Implement value engineering and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Safety Management:
- Promote and enforce a robust safety culture on the job site.
- Ensure compliance with all local and federal safety regulations, conducting regular safety meetings and site inspections.
- Address and correct any identified safety hazards or violations quickly and effectively.
- Subcontractor and Supplier Management:
- Select, contract, and manage subcontractors and suppliers to meet project requirements and quality standards.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing, maintaining positive professional relationships.
- Resolve disputes or issues with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project continuity.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and change orders.
- Prepare and submit regular updates on schedules, budgets, and quality metrics to stakeholders.
- Document any project modifications and ensure clear communication with all team members and clients.
- Client Interaction:
- Serve as the primary client contact throughout the construction process.
- Ensure that client expectations are met or exceeded from project initiation to completion.
- Conduct final walk-throughs with clients, address punch list items, and ensure overall client satisfaction.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or Project Manager in custom home building.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Proficiency in construction management software and project management tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients, subcontractors, and teams.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to construction challenges.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
