Construction Project Manager Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join a dynamic and rapidly growing commercial construction general contracting team. As a Construction Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and executing a variety of commercial construction projects from inception to completion. This full-time position is based in Calexico and offers an opportunity to work alongside like-minded professionals in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality results and fostering career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, proposals, and related documentation to ensure all project requirements are clearly understood and met.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and develop estimates for both self-performed and subcontracted work, ensuring accuracy and cost-efficiency.
- Prepare and submit schematic estimates during the early phases of project development.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.
- Solicit, gather, and analyze quotes from subcontractors and material suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality of work.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier relationships, including overseeing change orders and ensuring adherence to project specifications.
- Evaluate alternative construction solutions and methods to optimize efficiency and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and manage billing for clients and subcontractors, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
- Oversee and process submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs) to maintain clear communication and resolve technical queries.
- Identify and resolve project discrepancies by collecting and analyzing relevant information and implementing effective solutions.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven experience in planning, designing, communicating, and coordinating construction projects, with a strong ability to resolve conflicts and meet project goals.
- Demonstrated capacity to oversee the planning and execution of contracted scopes of work, including preparing cost proposals, managing subcontracts, and maintaining project budgets and cost reports.
- Experience reviewing and approving construction drawings, bid documents, pay applications, and change orders.
- Highly organized, task-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
- Exhibits key professional traits such as resilience, action orientation, collaboration, effective communication, decision-making, adaptability, resourcefulness, trustworthiness, and customer focus.
- Possesses a good driving record, as travel may be included in the role.
- Knowledgeable about regulatory construction standards and industry best practices.
- Proficient in mathematics and computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook), Sage 100, Procore, and Bluebeam.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience effectively facilitating teams and delivering information.
- Background in commercial construction estimating, project administration, LEED certifications, and familiarity with industry practices.
- Ability to represent the company publicly with professionalism and integrity.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to organize, plan, and creatively solve problems while managing multiple priorities and adhering to deadlines.
- Demonstrates accountability, sincerity, and a strong commitment to contributing positively to the team and company.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, a related industry, or business field preferred.
- 3-5 years of construction management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by management.
