Construction Project Manager Job Overview
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of complex construction projects from inception to completion. This full-time position, based in Denver, CO, requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. The Construction Project Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that projects meet quality standards, remain on schedule, and are completed within budget while maintaining safety and compliance throughout every phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general supervision across multiple job sites, monitoring and managing projects throughout all phases: pre-construction, construction, closeout, and post-construction.
- Create and execute detailed project work plans, making necessary adjustments in response to evolving project needs and requirements.
- Identify and allocate resources, assigning responsibilities to ensure effective project execution.
- Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with the project scope and objectives.
- Lead estimating and pricing activities, including the development of accurate project estimates and handling change pricing as necessary.
- Review and approve deliverables prepared by team members before submission to clients.
- Apply established methodologies and enforce company project standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare for and participate in engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures to maintain project excellence.
- Ensure project documentation is accurate, current, and properly stored for easy access and compliance.
- Develop cost-effective project plans and schedules that optimize the use of resources and ensure logical progression of work.
- Select and coordinate the work of subcontractors for various project phases, ensuring all parties are aligned and effective.
- Oversee the performance of all trade contractors; review architectural and engineering drawings to confirm compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Administer construction contracts and secure all necessary permits and licenses for project operations.
- Supervise Project Engineers, review their reports, address reported difficulties, and resolve safety violations or deficiencies.
- Identify potential areas of dispute or claims related to project design and construction, proactively addressing issues as they arise.
- Monitor project activities to ensure adherence to schedules and profitability forecasts, conducting regular status meetings and progress reviews.
- Manage project accounting functions, including budgeting, expense tracking, and risk minimization.
- Maintain strict compliance with budgetary guidelines, quality requirements, and safety standards.
- Report regularly to owners and architects on project progress, recommending modifications as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Construction Science is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience assisting with or supervising construction projects of increasing complexity.
- Strong ability to work under pressure and coordinate diverse teams and activities to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Demonstrated experience with developing accurate project estimates and pricing reports.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical Demands
The Construction Project Manager must be able to traverse construction sites, move through areas with construction materials, climb ladders and temporary stairways, and inspect the quality of construction and materials. Jobsite walks are required to ensure project completion and to identify and address safety hazards. Work Environment
This role is performed on-site in Denver, CO, and not in a remote capacity.
