Construction Project Manager (Commercial, TI, PM) Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager specializing in commercial tenant improvements (TI) and building renovations for a full-time position in San Diego, CA. The Construction Project Manager (PM) will serve as a key leader overseeing the successful delivery of multiple projects, working closely with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high standards of quality. As a valued member of the project management team, you will play a pivotal role in driving project success and contributing to the continued growth and reputation of a top-tier commercial general contractor in the San Diego area.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, oversight, and coordination for a variety of commercial construction projects, with a focus on tenant improvements and building renovations.
- Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project schedules to ensure timely completion of all deliverables.
- Review project drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with project goals and client expectations.
- Collaborate with the project development team on architecture, interior design, and construction specifications to deliver quality results.
- Create accurate construction estimates and review budget information to meet targeted project financial goals.
- Conduct project kick-off meetings with the VP of Construction and the project team to establish project objectives and expectations.
- Coordinate procurement of materials through suppliers to maintain project timelines and standards.
- Monitor project expenditures, identify variances between estimated budgets and actual revenue, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Work with the production team to ensure projects are completed efficiently from start to finish, maintaining project quality and safety standards.
- Make key decisions regarding project cost, timelines, construction methods, and performance metrics.
- Maintain accountability for contract administration, job cost tracking, billing, change order management, claims, and project closeout processes.
- Participate in project management meetings to review performance, share updates, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead and motivate project teams.
- Demonstrated experience in estimating, scheduling, and managing project team members, emphasizing quality and professionalism.
- Proven history of successful completion of projects in tenant improvements and building renovations, particularly in Class A office buildings and exterior modifications.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Construction Project Manager with a specific track record in tenant improvement work.
- Project estimating experience is essential for this role.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Project, and BlueBeam is required.
- Experience with construction-specific or accounting software systems is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work both as a collaborative team leader and as an independent thinker.
- Proven ability to maintain and develop strong client relationships.
- Valid California Class C driver's license and current automobile insurance are required.
