Construction Project Engineer Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Construction Project Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is based in Colorado Springs, CO, and offers an exciting opportunity to play a key part in managing and coordinating construction projects from inception to completion. As a Construction Project Engineer, you will work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure the successful delivery of projects while meeting quality, budget, and scheduling objectives. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in construction engineering or management, who are looking to develop their expertise and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist project managers in all aspects of the construction management process, including project procurement, planning, operations, and closeout.
- Conduct quantity surveys and aid in pricing alternates to support accurate project estimation and cost control.
- Prepare and develop scopes of work, bid packages, comparison sheets, and contracts for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Support contract administration functions such as preparation, negotiation, development, and management.
- Assist in developing project budgets and schedules, ensuring that projects remain on track and within financial parameters.
- Negotiate subcontract and material purchases to secure the best terms for the company.
- Contribute to project planning by preparing and maintaining project schedules and cost systems, updating schedules as needed.
- Coordinate logistics, including arranging for utilities, permits, licenses, material handling, storage, and mobilization of trailers.
- Assist with plan specification reviews and support the team with shop drawings, samples, and product data management.
- Set up and maintain logs for subcontractors and suppliers to track insurance certificates, contracts, payment applications, and material delivery.
- Implement and monitor quality control plans, participate in project coordination meetings, and prepare meeting minutes.
- Track project progress, manage change documentation, and administer subcontract agreements.
- Assist in field operations, support the superintendent in safety and quality control, and resolve field questions with designers and consultants.
- Coordinate and review drawings, submissions, specifications, changes, and ensure proper document control.
- Manage project closeout activities, including punch list completion, equipment removal, submission of as-built drawings, and obtaining occupancy permits.
- Maintain positive relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of construction-related experience in a similar capacity, with a strong understanding of construction management processes.
