Commercial Insurance Underwriter Job OverviewARC Group is seeking a Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join our client’s commercial insurance team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is a full-time opportunity for a skilled underwriter who will focus on managing and renewing existing commercial insurance policies. As a Commercial Insurance Underwriter, you will report directly to the Director of Underwriting and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely renewal of policies for the Auto Commercial department.
Responsibilities- Manage all renewal activities for the Auto Commercial department, including the review of policy documents for accuracy and completeness, rating accounts, and utilizing fleet analysis tools to oversee fleet renewals.
- Support new business efforts by preparing quotes and proposals, conducting pre-reviews of underwriting submissions, and evaluating referrals according to established underwriting guidelines.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, delivering outstanding service through effective communication, follow-up, and timely updates to quotes as requested by underwriters.
- Collaborate with the Director of Underwriting and other cross-functional teams to meet departmental goals and ensure streamlined operations.
- Maintain organized, up-to-date records, including uploading monthly data for MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) monitoring, following up on monitored MVRs, and issuing exclusions or communicating with insureds as appropriate.
- Service active policies by processing endorsement requests such as driver or vehicle changes, updating contact information, issuing certificates of insurance, and managing cancellation notices and related policy documentation.
- Assist with loss control efforts by coordinating site visits, documenting reports, and supporting underwriters with related tasks and paperwork.
- Perform various administrative functions as needed, including translation assistance, calendar and meeting coordination, travel arrangements, and document preparation to support management and team operations.
- At least one year of experience in commercial insurance underwriting, with a focus on renewal business.
- Proven ability to manage an established book of renewal accounts, including risk review, information gathering, quoting, and servicing accounts.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure accuracy in all underwriting and policy servicing tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with a proactive mindset and willingness to grow within a dynamic work environment.
