Clinic Nursing Quality Manager (RN) Job Overview
The Clinic Nursing Quality Manager (RN) plays a pivotal role in leading clinical nursing operations and driving quality improvement initiatives across all MSHS clinics. This full-time position is responsible for ensuring that patient care meets the highest standards of quality and compliance, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Clinic Nursing Quality Manager (RN) works closely with clinic directors, providers, nurses, and administrative staff to develop, implement, and monitor quality metrics, policies, and procedures that support superior patient outcomes. Working in Saint Ignace and the surrounding region offers a unique opportunity to serve diverse patient populations within vibrant communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and supervision to nursing and clinical staff, ensuring effective patient care delivery and efficient use of resources in all MSHS clinics.
- Standardize and implement quality improvement metrics, integrating requirements from HEDIS, RHC, PCMH, BCBS, ACO, and all value-based purchasing (VBP) initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and review clinic policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting bodies.
- Collaborate with ambulatory executives, clinic managers, and the Chief Ambulatory Officer to ensure timely submission and maintenance of quality metrics.
- Analyze clinical data to identify areas of improvement and lead cross-functional teams in developing and executing action plans to address deficiencies.
- Monitor clinical operations, patient flow, and access (including phone and video), and manage workflows to optimize efficiency and patient satisfaction.
- Build and maintain operational and quality reports within the electronic medical record (EMR) system, using data-driven approaches to guide decision-making.
- Supervise clinic scheduling, staffing solutions, and departmental payroll, ensuring adequate coverage and operational continuity.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and competency assessments for clinical staff, providing coaching, feedback, and support for professional development.
- Promote collaboration and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders regarding clinical quality initiatives.
- Utilize evidence-based methodologies such as DMAIC and PDSA to drive process improvements and address deficient practices.
- Maintain a strong awareness of community needs and adapt services accordingly, representing the clinics positively within and outside the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable MSHS policies and departmental procedures, reviewing and updating as required.
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure required (will consider LPN, MA, or candidates with strong clinical quality backgrounds).
- Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop positive staff relationships, and inspire achievement of quality improvement goals.
- Strong customer service orientation and exemplary attendance record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and EMR systems; skilled in data retrieval and analysis.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects, work a flexible schedule, and adapt to changing priorities as needed.
