Clinical Quality Coordinator (RN/LPN) Position Overview
The Clinical Quality Coordinator (RN/LPN) plays a pivotal role in supporting continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives within a medical practice environment. Reporting directly to the Practice Manager, this exempt position is responsible for coordinating quality management efforts, leading educational initiatives, and supervising clinical staff such as medical assistants. The Clinical Quality Coordinator (RN/LPN) serves as a key resource for implementing quality standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with quality improvement (QI) leadership to plan, design, and maintain a comprehensive CQI program, encompassing utilization and risk management strategies.
- Provide education and training for new staff, including physicians, on QI systems, guidelines, and best practices.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify and resolve QI-related issues, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor and review medical practice operations to ensure alignment with both internal and external QI standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular assessments of medical records and clinical documentation to confirm quality care delivery.
- Coordinate data collection and reporting processes to satisfy the requirements of organizations such as NCQA and other accrediting bodies, including the management of patient satisfaction data.
- Analyze variances and other data to uncover QI opportunities and risk management concerns, recommending and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Track service quality through review of ICD-10 codes, HEDIS quality measures, ACO quality initiatives, and satisfaction surveys, addressing issues and reporting outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in health administration or a related health field is required.
- Minimum of three to four years of experience in a healthcare setting, with at least one year focused on quality management, preferably within a medical practice.
- Active state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Current CPR certification.

- In-depth knowledge of CQI principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Proficiency in using computer applications related to QI, including spreadsheets and statistical software.
- Understanding of medical records management and clinical care processes.
- Strong facilitation and educational skills to promote CQI standards among clinical staff.
- Analytical capability to interpret data, prepare reports, and identify trends related to quality and risk management.
- Effective communication abilities for both verbal and written education in formal and informal settings.
- Collaborative approach to working with diverse healthcare team members and external partners.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Primarily office and classroom settings, with rare patient contact.
- Routine use of standard office equipment, including computers.
- Occasional lifting or moving of audiovisual equipment up to 50 pounds may be required.
- Ability to manage deadline-driven tasks and occasional work-related stress.
