Triad Adult and Pediatric Medicine, Inc. (TAPM), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with multiple locations, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for a full-time leadership position. This role is essential for overseeing all clinical operations, ensuring compliance with medical policies and regulatory standards, and driving excellence in patient care. The CMO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and acts as the primary authority on clinical issues for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise all daily clinical and quality operations within the organization, ensuring optimal standards of care.
- Establish, monitor, and continuously improve care delivery by setting and evaluating performance benchmarks and goals.
- Develop and recommend strategies that enhance clinical performance, increase operational effectiveness, and maintain compliance with all clinical functions.
- Oversee a multidisciplinary provider team of over 25 members, including physicians (MDs/DOs), nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), and clinical social workers (LCSWs).
- Collaborate with the CEO and department leaders to integrate clinical functions with departments such as Behavioral Health, Care Coordination, Nutrition, and Nursing.
- Provide direct supervision for the clinical quality team, working closely with the Quality Director to achieve organizational quality goals and improve performance outcomes.
- Lead the peer-review program and monitor provider productivity, including coding practices and facilitating annual coding training sessions.
- Develop, implement, and manage clinical policies and protocols to ensure appropriate patient care and regulatory compliance at all levels.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for providers and ensure adherence to professional standards.
- Coordinate, evaluate, and oversee specialty clinics and facilitate monthly provider meetings and training sessions.
- Mentor new providers and deliver a comprehensive orientation program for all clinical staff and quality team members.
- Provide direct patient care for at least two full days per week, complemented by administrative and supervisory duties for the remaining workdays.
- Work collaboratively with area hospitals and external agencies to ensure effective care coordination and support the continuum of patient care.
Qualifications and Core Competencies
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) with board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Active, unrestricted medical license in the State of North Carolina, with the ability to maintain this status throughout employment.
- Extensive knowledge of federal regulations relevant to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).
- Minimum of two to four years of clinical leadership experience in inpatient or outpatient settings is preferred.
- Experience in managing care for culturally diverse populations is advantageous.
- Proven ability to supervise and develop multidisciplinary teams, with strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Experience in utilization management, quality management, and patient safety programs.
- Excellent independent decision-making, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated personnel development and mentoring abilities.
