Carolina Health Specialists is seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our busy endocrinology practice in Myrtle Beach. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare setting focused on providing high-quality patient care and support within the field of endocrinology. As a valued member of our clinical team, you will play a key role in assisting physicians, supporting patient care, and maintaining efficient clinical operations across our office locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ general condition by taking vital signs and documenting weight measurements during office visits.
- Assist physicians with medical examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments as required.
- Provide basic patient care under the supervision of the physician and Patient/Clinical Services Manager.
- Document all clinical activities, interventions, patient and family responses, and medication administration in electronic medical records in compliance with privacy and confidentiality standards.
- Promote patient wellness by distributing educational materials and effectively communicating physician instructions to patients and families.
- Adhere to all infection control, safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
- Review and acknowledge all patient cases and requests, updating action notes accordingly before case closure.
- Ensure timely response to patient callback requests and coordinate communication between patients and healthcare providers.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies, place orders as needed, and ensure patient rooms are fully stocked and cleaned per established protocols.
- Demonstrate current competencies relevant to the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position, and remain adaptable to evolving clinical needs.
Qualifications
- Active national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a current nursing license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required at time of hire and throughout employment.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency in managing electronic health records.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
- Comprehensive knowledge of basic nursing principles, infection control policies, environmental safety procedures, and patient confidentiality regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative clinical team and respond flexibly to changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasionally assisting with heavier lifts as needed.
- Must be able to use standard office and clinical equipment, including telephones, computers, EKG machines, stethoscopes, scales, and blood pressure cuffs.
- Hepatitis B vaccination and tuberculosis (TB) testing required due to frequent exposure to communicable diseases and medical substances.
Work Environment
This full-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role is based in a combination of office and exam room settings. Employees may be required to travel between office locations as needed. The work environment involves regular exposure to clinical situations, including contact with bodily fluids and medicinal preparations.
