Carolina Health Specialists is seeking a dedicated and nationally certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our busy Endocrinology practice in Myrtle Beach, SC. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional who is committed to patient care and team collaboration in a dynamic clinical environment. As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in our Endocrinology department, you will play a pivotal role in supporting physicians, enhancing patient experience, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily clinical activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to clinic patients under the supervision of physicians and the Patient/Clinical Services Manager.
- Assess patients' general conditions, including vital signs and weight measurements, and document findings accurately in medical records.
- Assist physicians with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments as directed.
- Deliver basic patient care according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all interventions, dispensed medications, and patient/family responses in electronic health records.
- Promote patient wellness by distributing educational materials and communicating physician advice and instructions clearly.
- Adhere strictly to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality guidelines as required by policy.
- Review patient cases, acknowledge and address requests, and ensure that action notes are updated before closing cases.
- Respond promptly to patient requests for callbacks and coordinate follow-up communications as needed.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of medical supplies and place orders to ensure rooms are fully stocked and organized.
- Keep exam rooms clean, organized, and ensure cleaning logs are up to date.
- Demonstrate current competencies related to the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) role within an Endocrinology setting.
- May be required to travel between office locations as part of routine job responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Current national certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) is required upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Excellent computer and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of basic nursing principles, infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.
- Proficiency in medical charting and records management.
- Strong assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with physicians, patients, families, and staff members.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing clinical demands and willingness to travel between practice locations as needed.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Work is performed in both office and exam room environments.
- Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and medicinal preparations.
- Compliance with health requirements, including Hepatitis B vaccination and TB testing, is mandatory.
- Must be able to perform varied physical activities such as sitting, walking, stooping, lifting (up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds), bending, and reaching.
- Ability to use a variety of office and medical equipment, including phones, computers, fax machines, stethoscopes, EKG machines, ear washing equipment, speculums, scales, and blood pressure cuffs.
- Occasional stress may arise from workload and patient care demands.
