Northwest Primary Care is seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team in a busy Family Practice clinic. This full-time position offers the opportunity to play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting. As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), you will work closely with practitioners and patients, ensuring a positive experience and supporting the clinic's mission of providing exceptional healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care in accordance with established standards and practices in an outpatient environment.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and practitioners, fostering clear and compassionate communication.
- Orient yourself to each practitioner and their specific area of practice to ensure seamless support.
- Greet patients and prepare them for physical examinations with attention to comfort and efficiency.
- Assess patients for any new changes, concerns, or problems, and communicate observations promptly.
- Observe, record, and report patients' conditions and responses to treatments and medications.
- Maintain a timely flow of patients through the clinic to support an efficient and organized environment.
- Instruct patients in the collection of samples and tests, ensuring understanding and proper technique.
- Arrange for patient testing as needed and coordinate with relevant departments or facilities.
- Respond to and refer incoming telephone calls appropriately, providing accurate information and support.
- Educate patients and their families regarding medication regimens and treatment instructions to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Maintain and review patient records and other pertinent information in compliance with privacy and documentation standards.
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and materials to support daily operations.
- Administer drug therapy (excluding IV therapy) when ordered by a practitioner, documenting details in the electronic health record.
- Participate actively in the clinic's message center to facilitate efficient communication and follow-up.
- Demonstrate competent phlebotomy skills as required for patient care and testing.
- Attend monthly departmental meetings to stay updated on best practices and clinic initiatives.
- Maintain current CPR certification in accordance with clinic policy and state regulations.
- Participate in continuing education classes and programs to ensure ongoing professional competency.
- Meet the standards outlined in the clinic's basic skills list and demonstrate proficiency in required competencies.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
- Current CPR certification, maintained throughout employment.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and experience in outpatient care settings preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
