Carolina Health Specialists is seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our busy, multi-specialty medical practice in Myrtle Beach, SC. This is a full-time position offering a critical opportunity to provide high-quality care and support in a dynamic healthcare environment. The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will play a key role in supporting physicians and clinical staff, ensuring the efficient and compassionate delivery of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients' general condition and accurately record vital signs and weight to support diagnostic and treatment processes.
- Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments as directed, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Deliver basic patient care as ordered, following all established protocols and best practices for clinical excellence.
- Document all activities, interventions, patient and family responses, and medication dispensed or prescribed in the electronic medical record to maintain accurate and thorough records.
- Promote patient wellness by providing educational materials and clearly communicating physician advice and instructions to patients and their families.
- Strictly adhere to infection control, safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Efficiently review and acknowledge all patient cases, updating action notes as appropriate prior to case closure.
- Address patient requests for call-backs promptly and ensure timely follow-up for enhanced patient satisfaction.
- Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies, placing orders as necessary to support ongoing clinical operations.
- Keep examination rooms fully stocked and ensure cleaning logs are maintained and up to date for a safe clinical environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) required at the time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Excellent customer service and strong computer skills are essential for success in this role.
- At least one year of experience in a primary care setting is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing principles, infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Proficient in medical chart reporting, health information management, and appropriate assessment techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing demands in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Work will be performed in both office and exam room settings.
- Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, and medicinal preparations; adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
- Hepatitis B vaccination and TB test are required as part of employment health requirements.
- Physical demands include sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, and reaching; must be able to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and lift up to 100 pounds.
- Use of office and medical equipment such as telephones, computers, fax machines, stethoscopes, EKG machines, ear washing equipment, speculums, scales, and blood pressure cuffs.
- Occasional stress related to workload and patient care responsibilities.
