Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Job Description
We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our internal medicine clinic team on a full-time basis in Moreno Valley. As a CMA, you will play a vital role in supporting both clinical and administrative operations, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and that office workflows remain efficient. This position is ideal for professionals with a strong background in medical assisting who are dedicated to providing excellent patient service and have a keen understanding of healthcare protocols, particularly within an internal medicine setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical back-office duties, such as preparing examination rooms, assisting physicians during patient exams, collecting specimens, and administering injections as needed.
- Execute front-office duties, including patient check-in and check-out, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and handling medical records securely.
- Support the implementation of Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) and 5 Star quality measures, ensuring that the clinic meets or exceeds healthcare performance benchmarks.
- Conduct and manage Annual Health Assessments, including patient screenings and data collection, to support preventive healthcare initiatives.
- Participate in the development and implementation of individualized care plans, collaborating with clinical staff to address patient needs and improve outcomes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years' experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), preferably in an internal medicine or similar clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding practices, ensuring accurate documentation and billing.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems for patient documentation and data management.
- Understanding of health insurance plans, including Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) structures, as well as familiarity with medical group affiliations.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Familiarity with HEDIS and 5 Star quality measures requirements is highly desirable.
- Experience performing annual health assessments and contributing to the development of care plans is preferred.
