Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) About the Role
Governors Family Practice is seeking a dedicated and professional Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our dynamic primary care team on a full-time basis. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting healthcare providers and delivering high-quality patient care. Responsibilities
- Prepare patient charts and maintain accurate health records in compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards.
- Obtain clinical data from patients or family historians, ensuring thorough and detailed documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Inform patients of normal laboratory and test results, providing clear communication and answering general questions as needed.
- Manage prescription refill requests and coordinate with providers to ensure timely processing.
- Schedule appointments, conduct patient outreach, and handle incoming phone calls with professionalism and empathy.
- Triage patients, collect test samples, and perform waived laboratory testing as required by clinical protocols.
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring all data is current and securely stored.
- Follow up with patients regarding test results, referrals, and recommended care plans.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary medical supplies are available and organized.
- Order laboratory tests according to provider instructions and assist in coordinating sample transport.
- Administer injections and immunizations under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers.
- Explain common medical procedures to patients, fostering understanding and comfort during their visit.
- Assist providers during basic examinations, ensuring a smooth workflow and optimal patient experience.
- Utilize Accountable Care Organization (ACO) tools to help patients access high-value healthcare resources and services.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and current Medical Assistant certification (CMA) required.
- Proven experience working as a Medical Assistant in a primary care or outpatient clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology, with the ability to apply this knowledge in patient interactions and administrative duties.
- Excellent professionalism, teamwork skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with providers and support staff.
- Outstanding customer service skills and a compassionate bed-side manner, with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, ensuring clarity and accuracy in all patient and team interactions.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks, EMR systems, and general computer applications.
