First State Medical Associates is currently seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Primary Care Practice in a full-time capacity. As an integral part of our healthcare team, the Medical Assistant will provide essential clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the practice and high-quality patient care. Responsibilities
- Prepare patient charts and maintain accurate health records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Obtain clinical data from patients and their family historians, ensuring all information is documented thoroughly.
- Inform patients of normal laboratory and test results, providing clear and compassionate communication.
- Process prescription refills accurately and in accordance with provider instructions.
- Schedule appointments, conduct patient outreach, and handle incoming phone calls professionally.
- Triage patients upon arrival, collecting vital signs and relevant health information.
- Collect and prepare test samples, perform waived laboratory testing, and accurately document results.
- Follow up with patients as directed by providers, addressing questions and coordinating care as needed.
- Prepare exam rooms for patient visits, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
- Order laboratory tests and coordinate with external labs as required.
- Administer injections and immunizations under the supervision of a licensed provider, maintaining compliance with protocols.
- Explain common medical procedures to patients and provide support during basic examinations.
- Utilize Accountable Care Organization (ACO) tools to assist patients in accessing high-value healthcare services.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) required.
- Previous experience in a Medical Assistant role, ideally within a primary care or clinical setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology.
- High level of professionalism, reliability, and teamwork skills.
- Exceptional customer service abilities and a compassionate bed-side manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong administrative, EMR, and general computer proficiency.
