Our primary care practice is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team. This full-time or part-time position offers an excellent opportunity to support healthcare providers and deliver high-quality patient care. As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), you will play a vital role in facilitating smooth clinical operations, ensuring patient comfort, and contributing to a positive healthcare experience. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patient charts and maintain accurate health records to support healthcare providers during patient visits.
- Obtain essential clinical data from patients or their historians, ensuring all information is recorded efficiently and confidentially in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Inform patients about normal laboratory and test results, providing clear communication and guidance as needed.
- Assist with prescription refills, scheduling medical appointments, conducting patient outreach, and responding to patient phone calls in a timely, professional manner.
- Triage patients based on their needs and symptoms, ensuring prompt and appropriate care is delivered.
- Collect test samples and perform waived laboratory testing, adhering to all protocols and maintaining quality standards.
- Follow up with patients regarding ongoing care, laboratory results, and treatment plans to promote continuity of care.
- Prepare examination rooms prior to patient visits, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and readiness for clinical procedures.
- Order laboratory tests as directed by healthcare providers, and document all orders and results accurately in the EMR.
- Administer injections and immunizations as instructed, following all safety and clinical guidelines.
- Explain common medical procedures to patients, providing reassurance and clear instructions to foster understanding and comfort.
- Assist healthcare providers during basic examinations and procedures, maintaining a supportive and efficient clinical environment.
- Utilize Accountable Care Organization (ACO) tools and resources to help patients access high-value healthcare services and improve health outcomes.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) is required.
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a primary care or outpatient setting.
- Thorough understanding of medical terminology and pharmacology to support clinical operations.
- Exceptional professionalism and strong teamwork skills, with a commitment to supporting a collaborative healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and excellent bedside manner, ensuring a positive patient experience at all times.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks, including electronic medical records (EMR) systems and general computer skills.
