Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our dynamic team at a family practice. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment and possess the flexibility to adapt to the varying needs of the practice each day. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to provide both clinical and administrative support, contributing to the delivery of quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform clinical duties including taking and recording vital signs, rooming patients for providers, and prepping patients for medical procedures.
- Assist healthcare providers during medical procedures to ensure patient comfort and procedural efficiency.
- Administer vaccines and injections, as well as obtain and document comprehensive medical histories from patients.
- Record administered vaccines accurately in the North Carolina Immunization Registry (NCIR).
- Conduct basic laboratory work, such as running tests and systematically documenting results to maintain accurate patient records.
- Handle administrative responsibilities including answering telephones, greeting patients upon arrival, and scheduling appointments in a timely manner.
- Process refill requests and manage patient payments efficiently while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
- Obtain and verify insurance information, complete prior authorizations, and assist with patient assistance forms as needed to support smooth operations within the family practice.
Qualifications
- Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) is required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and staff.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate data entry and documentation.
- Proficiency in basic clinical procedures and familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing priorities within the clinical setting.
