We are seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our family medicine team on a full-time basis. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting healthcare providers and ensuring quality patient care. Responsibilities
- Interview patients to verify and document medical history, reconcile medical charts, confirm the reason for the visit, and complete all required intake data for each patient encounter.
- Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical assessments, which include measuring and recording blood pressure, weight, height, and temperature, as well as reporting patient history summaries to providers.
- Secure and safeguard patient information by maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring all patient data remains confidential in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Counsel patients as needed, communicate physician orders, and provide clear answers to patient questions regarding their care or procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures, properly label and package specimens for laboratory transport, and ensure all samples are handled according to protocol.
- Conduct diagnostic tests including EKG, spirometry, pulse oximetry, vision and hearing screenings, gait and balance assessments, and perform CLIA-waived laboratory testing as required.
- Assist healthcare providers during medical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and assisting with patient positioning and comfort.
- Administer immunizations and injections as ordered by providers, ensuring all actions are accurately documented in the electronic health record system.
- Inform patients about normal laboratory and test results, handle prescription refill requests, schedule patient appointments, perform outreach activities, and manage incoming phone calls.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the medical office and enhance patient care.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current national certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) is mandatory.
Required Skills
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare procedures, and common diagnostic codes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, providers, and office staff.
- In-depth understanding of safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and infection control standards to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Familiarity with general administrative and clerical procedures in a medical office setting.
- Basic working knowledge of healthcare insurance practices and patient eligibility verification.
- Effective supply management skills to ensure necessary materials are available for patient care and procedures.
- Flexibility and adaptability to manage changing priorities and tasks throughout the workday.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
