Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Full-Time
Carolina Health Specialists is seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our busy multi-specialty practice. This full-time role is ideal for individuals with a primary care background who are committed to delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our physicians and healthcare team. As a CMA, you will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient clinical operations and providing compassionate support to patients.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ general condition by obtaining vital signs and weight as part of intake procedures.
- Assist physicians during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Provide basic patient care under the supervision of clinical staff and according to physician orders.
- Document all clinical activities, interventions, patient and family responses, and any medications dispensed or prescribed in the patient’s medical record.
- Promote wellness by distributing educational materials and clearly communicating physician advice and instructions to patients and families.
- Adhere strictly to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality policies in all aspects of work.
- Efficiently review patient cases, update action notes, and ensure provider requests and patient call-backs are handled promptly and professionally.
- Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies, placing orders as needed to keep patient rooms stocked and logs current.
- Demonstrate job-specific competencies and remain adaptable to changing demands within the clinical environment.
Qualifications
- National certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) is required prior to hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Strong primary care background is preferred, with excellent computer and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing principles, infection control, and medical chart reporting practices.
- Proficiency in assessment and assistance techniques, universal precautions, and health information management.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with physicians, clinical staff, and patients.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Flexibility to travel between practice locations as needed.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work is performed in both office and exam room settings, with frequent exposure to communicable diseases and medicinal substances.
- Must comply with health and safety requirements, including Hepatitis B vaccination and TB testing.
- Role requires a variety of physical activities such as sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching.
- Must be able to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and lift up to 100 pounds.
- Regular use of medical and office equipment, including stethoscopes, EKG machines, computers, and telephones.

Additional Information
- Full-time schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7:45 am – 5:15 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. No nights or weekends required.
