Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary
- Contract position in a high-volume cardiac surgery program
- Majority of duties (70-80%) involve first assisting in the operating room
- Support and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary heart team
- Contribute to a growing program with innovative surgical approaches
Duties & Responsibilities
- First assist in cardiac surgery procedures, both routine and complex cases
- Support the surgical team in the cardiac operating room, ensuring optimal patient outcomes
- Perform endoscopic vein harvesting with proficiency
- Participate in radial artery harvesting if experienced, though not required
- Assist with perioperative patient management under physician supervision
- Contribute to quality improvement and clinical best practices within the heart program
- Participate in on-call rotations as required (1-2 weekdays per week, 1 weekend every 5-6 weeks)
- Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and allied health professionals

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current valid Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) board certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiac surgery first assisting
- Demonstrated proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting
- Radial artery harvesting experience preferred, but not required
- Active state license required and eligibility to begin upon credentialing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 3 months of hire
