BIM Manager Position Overview
As a BIM Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes for structural engineering projects. This full-time opportunity is based in San Diego, CA, and is ideal for a professional with extensive experience in BIM implementation and project coordination within the civil engineering, architecture, or construction management sectors. Key Responsibilities
- Translate 2D design documents and specifications into comprehensive 3D BIM models, and incorporate advanced project elements such as 4D (time and sequencing) and 5D (cost and budget) data for enhanced project planning and visualization.
- Lead the development and implementation of BIM Execution Plans tailored to each structural engineering project, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned with project goals and BIM standards.
- Oversee and manage BIM processes throughout all project phases, including 3D modeling, 4D scheduling, and whole building life cycle assessment (WBLCA), to support informed decision-making and project efficiency.
- Utilize BIM tools to extract detailed material and construction quantities, providing accurate internal cost estimations and real-time budget insights to guide project design and financial planning.
- Conduct thorough clash detection and model coordination to identify and resolve interdisciplinary design conflicts, ensuring seamless integration across all project disciplines.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and project managers, fostering effective communication and integration of BIM strategies to achieve project objectives and maintain quality standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a closely related field is required.
- Experience: A minimum of six years of professional experience in civil engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related discipline is essential for success in this BIM Manager role.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Revit, clash detection software, and structural modeling is required. Experience with 4D construction scheduling and 5D cost estimation is highly desirable.
- Comprehensive understanding of structural engineering principles, building systems, and BIM project coordination best practices.
