Bilingual Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bilingual Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) to join a primary care office as a full-time team member. The Bilingual Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) will play a vital role in supporting both clinical and administrative functions, ensuring efficient and effective patient care for a diverse patient population. This position is ideal for individuals who possess strong communication skills in both Spanish and English and are committed to creating a positive and welcoming environment for all patients.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and treatments, helping to ensure a smooth and supportive experience for both patients and providers.
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking and recording vital signs, documenting medical histories, and updating patient information in electronic health records (EHR).
- Perform basic medical procedures, such as administering injections, drawing blood samples, and collecting specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Conduct routine tests and procedures, including EKGs, spirometry, and vision screenings as ordered by healthcare providers.
- Support minor surgical procedures by maintaining sterile techniques and handling instruments properly.
- Educate patients on topics such as medication administration, dietary guidelines, and other healthcare instructions, ensuring clear communication in both Spanish and English.
- Maintain and restock examination rooms with necessary medical supplies and equipment to facilitate smooth clinic operations.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Greet patients and maintain a friendly, professional atmosphere in the waiting and reception areas.
- Schedule appointments, update patient information, and verify insurance coverage to support efficient patient flow.
- Handle incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct messages to the appropriate staff members.
- Manage medical records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Assist in billing and coding processes, following relevant healthcare regulations and protocols.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists, diagnostic facilities, and other healthcare providers as needed.
- Contribute to maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the office environment.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with healthcare providers, nurses, and other medical assistants to ensure optimal workflow and high levels of patient satisfaction.
- Participate in staff meetings, ongoing training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinic performance and personal development.
- Communicate effectively with patients, addressing their concerns and clarifying instructions in both Spanish and English to ensure understanding and compliance with care plans.
Qualifications
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required for this full-time Bilingual Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) position.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; completion of a Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is highly desirable.
- Experience working in a primary care or similar healthcare setting is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical procedures, and diagnostic tests is expected.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare-related software is necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping practices.
- Understanding of medical ethics, patient confidentiality, and regulatory standards applicable to the healthcare environment.
