The Behavioral Health Clinician (LICSW/LMHC) plays a vital role within community health programs, delivering essential mental health support and advocacy to both adult and pediatric clients. This full-time position is responsible for assisting individuals in overcoming challenges related to mental illness, addiction, and abuse, while also helping them access community resources. Behavioral Health Clinicians ensure that all care aligns with organizational mission, vision, and values, and are committed to compliance with all relevant policies and legal protocols. The Behavioral Health Clinician (LICSW/LMHC) works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide holistic care to diverse populations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with all members of the healthcare team to develop comprehensive Plans of Treatment for clients, incorporating psychosocial assessments and evidence-based social work interventions.
- Participate actively in discharge planning, ensuring a smooth transition of care and continued access to needed services for clients.
- Establish and maintain up-to-date knowledge of available referral resources throughout the community to better support client needs.
- Comply with all third-party payer requirements, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to billing guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, including progress notes and other documentation as required by facility policy and regulatory standards.
- Provide effective, compassionate communication and positive customer relations with clients, families, primary care providers, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Uphold all departmental and facility policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with ethical and legal standards in behavioral health care.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Current and valid LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) or LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) license as required by Massachusetts state law.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of full-time experience in a clinical behavioral health setting, with demonstrated competence in providing mental health services to diverse populations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage clinical records in accordance with policy.
