The Assistant Project Manager – Mechanical Construction plays a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects focused on mechanical systems. This full-time position, based in Anaheim, CA, assists project managers in overseeing field operations, ensuring the safety and productivity of field personnel, monitoring quality assurance, and facilitating effective communication between teams. The Assistant Project Manager – Mechanical Construction is instrumental in driving project success by managing project documentation, procurement processes, and financial tracking while promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the project manager with daily operations and project management tasks related to mechanical construction projects.
- Monitor and help ensure the safety of all field personnel assigned to the project, adhering to established safety protocols and standards.
- Assist in managing field labor productivity and coordinating project schedules to meet project milestones.
- Participate in quality assurance efforts, including regular inspections and adherence to project specifications and industry standards.
- Assist in the preparation of financial projections, project cost tracking, and reporting on project progress to stakeholders.
- Coordinate the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery to maintain project schedules.
- Support the management of change orders and ensure proper documentation and communication with clients regarding project changes.
- Foster strong owner/client relations by maintaining open and professional communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in monitoring project cash flow and support personnel management as directed by the project manager.
- Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, executed plans, and programs, ensuring consistent and effective project management practices.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of construction work-related experience, preferably in mechanical construction, or a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
- Demonstrated ability to perform essential job duties effectively, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
- Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using Bluebeam Revu PDF editing, Vista-Viewpoint (Project Management & Accounting Software), and Quotesoft Estimating Software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret a variety of instructions and present information clearly.
- Strong organizational skills for handling and archiving technical data and project documentation.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and attention to detail.
- Basic business mathematics skills and the ability to collaborate with employees, vendors, and suppliers at all levels.
- Must comply with all operating policies, procedures, plans, and programs as outlined by the company.
