The Assistant Project Manager – Construction (APM) plays a vital supporting role in the successful planning, execution, and completion of commercial and public works construction projects. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with project document control, ensuring all project documentation is complete, current, and properly organized in accordance with company standards and legal requirements.
- Support the preparation of cost proposals and change orders, helping the team respond to project modifications efficiently and accurately.
- Participate in the development of project budgets and aid in the buy-out and contracting processes for various work packages.
- Assist with project accounting tasks, including preparing owner billings and reviewing or approving subcontractor progress payments to maintain transparent financial records.
- Help manage and control project budgets and costs throughout the project lifecycle, supporting cost control efforts and financial tracking.
- Facilitate the submittal and request for information (RFI) process, ensuring all project documentation requirements are met and tracked accordingly.
- Assist in developing and managing the Critical Path Method (CPM) project schedule, monitoring progress and helping to address scheduling challenges as they arise.
- Coordinate communication and workflow with project subcontractors, including procurement of materials and equipment, monitoring budgets, and managing billings.
- Support the coordination efforts among project architects, designers, owners, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure project goals and timelines are achieved.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in commercial and/or public works construction projects of increasing complexity is required.
- A four-year degree in construction management, construction science, or an industry-related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of current construction methods, materials, and regulatory standards.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and coordinate multiple activities and groups to maximize project efficiency.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential to success in this role.
- Advanced computer skills required; familiarity with Primavera scheduling software and Oracle Contract Manager is a plus.
- A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving history are necessary for this position.
